CONATUS : PILOTE
2006

Solo show, galerie Vallois

Pilote, if one refers to the vocabulary of television series, announces the prototype nature of the exhibition, prologue to a series of episodes ahead in wich the characters will be the works. The conatus, or the Spinozian concept of desire as a driving force, of the will of Man to persevere in its being and to increase its power to act is the founding principle of this new series. In this inaugural exhibition we shall meet: a platform on which elements lay which we find suspended in mobiles, the titles of the works becoming full works, the titles of the show made of 54 fluorescent lamps – as much as the exhibition has of days. An additional tube is randomly switched on every day, illuminating and energizing gradually the show. A movie presents the finding of elements presented on the platform.
In a second room, the titles of the works in the main room are presented in the form of artworks.
