The title of these works is a pun on the most famous French decoration, the Légion d’Honneur, in which the notion of friendship replaces that of honour. Pin badges are small objects, usually of advertising origin, worn as distinctive signs of belonging to a group with similar interests or tastes. In Légions d’ami·es, they are placed on cork board-panels, which are then spray-painted, so that the badges lose their referent and become purely coloured shapes. Visitors to an exhibition featuring these paintings are invited to remove them, gradually changing the visual aspect of the paintings. These fragments of work pinned to an item of clothing form an imaginary link between their wearers, and their imprint creates a portrait of friends.
