NON-STOP PAYSAGE (NON-STOP LANDSCAPE)
2003

Solo show, Fri-Art, Fribourg, Suisse
Curator : Sarah Zürcher

An exhibition conceived as an intermittently animated landscape. At once a cheap animatronic show, an over-colored environment, a deviant « music video »and a mini-garden of sculptures, the exhibition combines old and new works. The Lambada, whispered by the pink form of Cosmos, drives the exhibition, determining the beginning and end of the show, a 4-minute sequence during which (Cosmos) spins on itself while the light sculptures Rocher (Rock), Lac (Lake) and Fontaine (Fountain), a syncretism of Zen garden and American minimalism, flicker and an automatic door, also named Cosmos, opens and closes randomly. When the song ends, the objects stop or switch off, and the exhibition remains at rest for fifteen minutes before restarting. The 24/7 murals take up the color codes of Japanese or American convenience stores that are permanently open, enlarging them to the point where they envelop the viewer and act as a backdrop.
